"Interests"

The "Interests" scale consists of items such as "I enjoy leisure activities that are physically active," and, "I enjoy exposure to foreign cultures." It consists of items that assess a wide array of interests that are relevant to how an individual wishes to spend his or her career and leisure time.

In our research, it has been a strong predictor of long term relationship happiness and contentment for both women and men, but is slightly more predictive of female happiness and contentment.

Because of its strong historical contributions to relationship compatibility, the "Interests" scale consists of 40 of the 180 items in the "Compatible Lifestyle Questionnaire-R©".
